In this session there will be sun salutations, standing poses, seated asanas and beyond with the option to play with inversions and arm balances, all done with a strong emphasis on the breath.
Each Rocket yoga series has a targeted focus. Rocket I focuses on hip openers, forward bends and core strengthening exercises.
Come and join me for some rocket fun and explore the sequences that help develop flexibility, strength and balance whilst also promoting a sense of calm and focus in the mind. Modifications and variations will be offered so all levels are welcome (except complete beginners). It’s called Rocket so you don’t take it too seriously. It’s a chance to explore and test the boundaries of your body as well as the mind. We fall over, laugh it off, get up and do it all over again.

LETTING GO
Think of how much of our day we spend in stress. It might be stressful physical positions, stressful emotional situations or could be just the stress of running around, multi-tasking all day.
The mind wanders back to everything that has happened or will happen and the body tightens yup as a response to continuous stress. This is why it is important to fine-tune to a key element of yoga practice. Letting go of the day’s experiences emotionally as well as softening and easing into physical poses.
The practice is suitable for both beginners and intermediate level yoga practitioners. The session is gentle with the occasional moderate elements of the asana practice.

This session with Jacqui is called “From the Centre to the Periphery” and in it we’ll be working with somatic yoga practices to help identify habitual movement patterns and release long held tensions. We’ll also explore some new ways into familiar asanas and see if we can make our practice more comfortable and accessible. We’ll be starting the session with some basic breathing and ending with a lovely relaxation. I do hope you’ll join me.

MANDALA VINYASA
Mandala Vinyasa is a ‘yin yang yin’ style class, where the beginning yin section is used to prepare the specific areas of the body that will be used throughout the class. The middle yang section is a dynamic vinyasa flow-style practice (prepare to build up a sweat) and the ending yin section is used to counterbalance and close the body.
Exploring circular movements and moving 360º around the mat, this practice can start and end with a slow pace but can be very dynamic in the middle. Great for anyone who practises vinyasa flow yoga and likes to mix it with yin and inversions (optional). The session is not recommended for complete beginners, people with injuries, those who are less mobile, pregnant, have low or high blood pressure or cardiovascular irregularities.

HAPPY PSOAS AND LOWER BACK
I will be sharing a somatic practice inviting you to explore the sensory awareness of your living body. Perhaps the psoas may be tight, weak, over-trained or stretched on one side leading to discomfort in the lower back. Whatever we discover we will ultimately be aiming to release the psoas and reset the nervous system, increasing the body’s ability to rest, restore, hydrate, and relax.

KUNDALINI YOGA: AWAKENING THE SERPENT
This is a flowing dance-like class to music, with chanting, pranayama and mudras. The class is intended to activate Kundalini or Shakti energy, by unblocking the chakras, the energy centres in the body.
Kundalini comes from the Sanskrit word “kundal” which means “circular” and it is represented by the image of a coiled snake, sleeping and unaroused at the bottom of the spine.
Awakening the serpent through movement, mobilises the life force “shakti” which allows us to feel alive, releasing creativity, and freedom from the ego moving from awareness and an authentic self to live in harmony. Kundalini yoga is also known as “yoga of awareness”. The class is moderate in intensity and does not require previous knowledge of yoga but an open and inquisitive mind.

Yoga is both transformative and transformable – capable of creating change and being adaptable to the needs of every individual. Considering yoga as more than the practice of Asana, how does our practice reach beyond the physical, and how can we teach this in a way that allows students to experience the immaterial?
Here we consider the connection between all aspects of yoga within the taught practice and the exploration of the individual, uniting thought, emotion, sensation and control.
This will be a practical workshop and involve some physical asana. Suitable for enquiring minds of all experience levels.
